11/5/2018 0 Comments People Photography AssignmentWith this weeks photography assignment, I decided to shoot the topic of people. I wanted to go for a very emotional and raw subject. I ended up going into downtown Detroit and shot some pictures of the homeless. I named this collection of photos "The Forgotten People." This completely removed me from my comfort zone and made me feel lots of different emotions. As you'll see in some of the following photos, you can tell the emotion from the subject and how they look at the camera. One subject that touched me very closely is the man in the dumpster. He said something along the lines of "I was given opportunities, but I lost them because of my choices. Now I can't get out." This is the raw feeling I was going for, and I think I nailed it. I hope you enjoy. "Forgotten" f/5.0 - 1/200 sec. - ISO 200 The editing was very basic for this photo, again following that idea of a raw feeling. I have been learning how to make my own black and white pictures without doing the auto B&W option, and I did just that on this image. I did some very basic photoshop editing but nothing that changed the image drastically. I again wanted the eyes to be the main subject of the picture, making the viewer feel all the emotions in his eyes. I gave him specific directions to look through the middle of my barrel to get the effect of him staring into the viewers' eyes. Here are some of my other photos. I loved all of these images, so it was very difficult to pick my best one. Enjoy. "The Forgotten People"
